VARIETY GALA DEMOCRACY TURNS 30

The annual variety gala is an integral part of the CPO’s makeup, offering performance opportunities to so many local artists. This year’s will be no different – Brandon Phillips will bring his special brand of charisma to the podium.

This year the gala is a celebration by the CPO in collaboration with Artscape and all the associated arts companies regularly working in this theatre and dedicated to 30 years of democracy in South Africa, but especially in the arts.

you can expect to hear opera (Cape Town Opera), see some dance (Cape Town City Ballet, Jazzart Dance Theatre, Unmute, Elvis Sibeko) and an act by the Zip Zap Circus. Singers and choirs include the CPO Afri-Arts Choir, Craig Lucas; Craig Lucas; the strength act with Oleksii and his new partner Leda is back.

The orchestra will perform a new symphonic arrangement of this greatest hits by the one and only David Kramer.
