UCT String Ensemble

About

The UCT String Ensemble was founded in 1997 by Anmari van der Westhuizen and is currently headed by UCT’s Head of Strings, Associate Professor Farida Bacharova. Students of the SACM come together to form one of South Africa’s leading youth string orchestras. For this concert UCT String Ensemble joins forces with the strings of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra to perform Händel’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 1, Mozart’s Divertimento in D major and South African composer Hans Huyssen’s Audite Africam! - an African Suite for Strings.

Brandon Phillips conducts the first half of the concert and Hans Huyssen takes the baton for his own work.
