Craig Lucas is back at the Wave Theater for a re-run of his boundary-pushing and deeply personal show “The Morning After.”
The name “The Morning After” represents the morning after a night of partying, and therefore alludes to Craig’s battles with alcohol and drug abuse in the past as he struggled to manage his depression and anxiety. The title also however represents “The Morning After” as a new dawn, and signifies a new beginning, and speaks to Craig’s triumphs as he managed to beat addiction and get his mental illness under control. Lastly, the title is a play on the words morning/mourning, as this show is among the first shows Craig has done since he lost his brother and sister early
this year.
That deep love, longing and pain pervades every second of Craig’s performance.
Craig manages to channel his pain into his art, and like a phoenix rising from the ashes, his vocal delivery and performance is more powerful than ever.
